Nikki and Steven Murphy were surprised when they learned that baby number two was on his way, since they were still busy loving on their 6 month old Callan! As their family grew, so did their hearts and on June 6, 2017, sweet Mason Murphy was welcomed into the world by Mom, Dad and Doula Barbara Heid. At 10.01 pounds and 21 inches long, Mason immediately brought pure joy and relief to Nikki and Steven.

I was fortunate to have met the family last year for Callan’s newborn photography session. At 5 weeks old, it was Mason’s turn. Nikki remembers fondly how time seemed to have stood still for the three hours I photographed Callan and how she got to relish that sweet time with her baby boy. This time was no different.

Nikki and Steven made the session memorable by bringing a very sentimental item for the photographs – Steven’s childhood teddy bear, Carmichael. Steven’s mother had recently passed away in March so it was a meaningful and beautiful keepsake to have Mason pose with the bear.

If I had to describe Mason, it would be soft and squishy! He was not feeling well that day and Nikki admits she worried that he would not be calm enough to get some good photographs. However, the experience was great and, again, she was able to cherish these amazing moments.
