“He has hair!”
“He’s finally here!”
“I can’t believe he’s ours!”
“So in love!”
These were the first thoughts that entered the minds of Kim and John when their son Giovanni was born at Doylestown Hospital on June 3rd at 4:20pm. His arrival was highly anticipated, since Kim was induced on the 1st of June and delivered Gio via cesarean-section two days later. Weighing in at 7 lbs 8 oz and 20.5 inches in length, Giovanni was a baby worth waiting for. He was excitedly greeted by mom and dad, grandparents and aunts.
I met Giovanni almost two weeks later when he was only 12 days old at his newborn photography session at my studio. Kim and John were well prepared for the photo shoot, having kept Giovanni awake as best they could prior to our session and feeding him immediately before and during the session whenever he got hungry. They brought the most adorable football outfit for tiny Gio to wear since John is a huge fan of football (he both played and currently coaches). There’s no doubt that Giovanni will be a big fan too!
Infant photography sessions can be a nervous experience for first-time parents. Most worry about how cooperative their baby will be and whether or not the photographer will be able to take good pictures – John and Kim worried about these things too but agree that the entire experience was great! Between Giovanni’s cooperate nature and how ridiculously photogenic both mom and dad are ;-) , everything turned out great and I was able to capture some beautiful and wonderful moments.
Kim and John’s favorite part about the newborn photography session was seeing the family photos and how cute little Gio looked in all the different poses. Both parents were patient and open to a variety of poses, knowing that little ones might not be happy or comfortable with all of them. We all based the session on Giovanni and what he wanted to do. Kim and John followed my instructions about keeping him awake and fed before the shoot and everything went smoothly.
Kim and John endured an anticipatory pregnancy, an arduous delivery and now bask in the joy and delight of having precious Giovanni in their life – I’m so happy to have captured this time in photographic memories.
