Tom and Katie were surprised the day they found out they were going to be parents, but nothing prepared them for that moment on July 20^th when they saw their baby girl for the first time. “Beautiful” was the first thought that came to Katie’s mind when she held precious Penelope.

Penelope arrived at 9:16am in the morning, weighing 8lbs 10oz and measuring at 19 and a half inches long.

Our first session with Penelope was fantastic, but because she was awake for most of it we were not able to get the photographs Katie and Tom had in mind. The family came back for a Take2 Session so we could captures some pictures of sweet Penelope asleep and content.

And we did.

Katie made sure Penelope was well fed, or “milk-drunk” as she describes it, so Penelope was sleepy and happy. I made sure the room was warm and we swaddled Penelope to help keep her asleep. It worked! And Katie’s favorite part of the session was seeing how tiny her precious daughter was wrapped up and asleep.

Penelope was a good sport for this newborn session, and Tom was as well. Despite his dislike of the color pink, he agreed to wear a pink shirt for pictures of him holding his baby daughter. As you can see from the photos, the effort was well worth it!

Katie and Tom brought Tom’s grandfather’s stein as a sentimental item, since they honeymooned in Germany and attended Oktoberfest.  This fun picture was their fave ;-)

We also posed sweet Penelope on her daddy’s new Martin Guitar …. kidding!  This is a composite, no babies or guitars were put in harms way for this shot ;-)
